Zola Jesus – Skin
It was a dreary, winter’s morning, driving to a job I would leave within months – one I only now realise how much I hated – when Zola Jesus (Nika Roza Danilova) first introduced herself to my car speakers. In the midst of a typical traffic snarl, my mind was transfixed on that voice permeating my more immediate surrounds. The song was Night; hauntingly engaging, though admittedly it was more about the voice than the track itself. Continue reading
